Our Signature Fundraising Event

Sip & Savour

Sip & Savour is more than just an event; it’s a vital part of our community’s efforts to support those in need. Known as King Township’s Cocktail Party of the Year, this gala serves as the primary fundraiser for the King Township Food Bank. With the unwavering dedication of volunteers, we’ve been responding to the growing needs of our community, which have increased significantly this year. The funds raised at Sip & Savour are essential to our mission. They help us provide a steady supply of non-perishable groceries, fresh produce, and food cards to over 500 individuals every month. This ensures that no member of our community goes without essential nourishment. Join us in making a difference at Sip & Savour, where every contribution helps in our ongoing fight against hunger.

Sip & Savour 2023 – Casablanca, Morocco

A Night of Moroccan Elegance: King Township Comes Together for a Cause!

Seneca College King Campus became a mesmerizing “Sultan’s Palace” for the 10th annual Sip & Savour fundraiser. Themed Yalla Casablanca, Sip & Savour brought Moroccan flavour to King, all for a good cause. Thanks to the many generous sponsors, donors, in-kind supporters, and ticketholders, and the many who remain anonymous, this year’s Sip & Savour raised a record-breaking amount of over $100,000 for the King Township Food Bank.

The institutional setting of Magna Hall was beautifully transformed into a warm, welcoming setting, thanks to BB Eventz, volunteer event coordinator Meline Beach, and a dedicated team of volunteers. Yalla Casablanca, featured authentic Moroccan foods, lively music, and captivating traditional belly dancing and live drumming, with a few seizing the opportunity to participate. Main attractions included the souk featured a bustling silent auction, led by Karen Marshall (both online and at the event), a spice market from Lex’s Pantry and beautiful henna art by the talented Rabaya Kumar. Steering the night’s narrative was Mark Pavilons, the esteemed editor of King Weekly Sentinel, whose words emphasizing unity, peace, and support within the community resonated, while Mayor Pellegrini once again served as honorary chair.

Generous contributions amplified the event, including refreshing beverages from Hockley Valley Brewing, Ernest Cider, and Willow Springs Winery; musical ambiance by Bob Hawkins DJ Service; professional photos by Lisa Pace Photography, and colourful attire thanks to Pammy’s Costumes. A nod to Seneca College and Aramark for providing the venue and culinary delights.

The significance of Sip & Savour extends beyond a night of festivity. Dubbed as “the cocktail party of the year in King” this gala is the Food Bank’s linchpin fundraiser. The King Township Food Bank, operating entirely on volunteer efforts for almost two decades, has seen a rise in demand by over 50% this year. With these funds, we’ll continue our mission, supplying over 450 individuals weekly with non-perishable groceries, fresh produce, food cards, and more, ensuring no one in the community goes hungry.
