KING TOWNSHIP FOOD BANK OPEN THIS SATURDAY and it’s SMILE COOKIE WEEK

This Saturday, all three centres are open to those registered with the Food Bank.  As usual, distancing measures are in place, and many are receiving ‘porch deliveries’ during these months. Those needing help and not registered should do so immediately through email ktfoodbank@gmail.com or by phone, leaving a message at 905-806-1125.  Registration is readily available to all residents of King Township. In addition, families will be receiving donated masks supplementary to those distributed in the summer.

Remember to buy your Smile Cookie (or a box for more smiles) at the Nobleton and King City Plaza Tim Horton Restaurants.  Thanks to Len and Rita Mizzoni for naming KTFB as the beneficiary.

Sip & Savour is well under way.  Tickets are available here.  Each $50 ticket purchase brings a cocktail package to your door, to enjoy in the comfort of your home, to sip and savour while you tune in to a live online presentation by the Food Bank from the lovely venue of Sherwood Farm Retreat and Venue, courtesy Theresa Sherwood.  There will also be draw prizes awarded to those who donate beyond the ticket price.  Each $10  donation will create one ballot for prizes that include a CSA 2021 Basket courtesy Round the Bend Farms, an overnight stay with thanks to Deerhurst Lodge and more to come.

York Energy Centre and its parent company Capital Power have donated $20,000 to King Township Food Bank.  $10,000 will help Sip & Savour reach its fundraising target and $10,000 will be considered support of a general nature.  Words cannot express the gratitude of the Food Bank.  Because food donations were suspended, the Food Bank was faced with the necessity of purchasing items for the menu boxes, adding 25% to the annual budget, over and above any increase in need amongst King residents.

Stay tuned as plans move along for our annual Sip & Savour cocktail party.
